Why Julianna Margulies Wears a $10K Wig on Good Wife

If anyone understands the plight of women with long, thick, naturally curly hair, it's Julianna Margulies. In fact, it's exactly why the Emmy-winning actress opted to wear a wig instead of sporting her real locks on her hit drama The Good Wife.

Margulies visited the Late Show on Wednesday night and explained to host David Letterman that she wears a $10,000 wig when playing the stylish Alicia Florrick. "My own hair is very curly and they wanted her to look coiffed and have straight hair," she said, adding, "I thought, 'Oh my God, 22 episodes a year, 14 hours a day' and if the weather changes my hair starts growing like a Chia pet."

Margulies—who looked stunning in a red and black ensemble for her appearance—decided that rather than spend all that time having her hair straightened, she'd wear a wig instead. As she put it, "Takes 10 minutes to put that wig on and there's no continuity problems." But the wigs aren't just a lifesaver for Margulies, because thanks to the show's flashbacks, the hair department doesn't have to style her, rather just go back to wigs from previous seasons.

Not only did the talented actress perfectly explain the work that goes into having natural curly hair to Letterman, but she also broke it down to the confused host the reason why dry bars exist. Julianna Margulies: curly-haired hero.
