Watts Went Missing on July 16, 2023

Allisha Watts, a passionate advocate for individuals dealing with mental health challenges and older people, had plans to attend a comedy show at Bojangles Coliseum in the nearby city of Charlotte following her visit with Dunmore on July 16.

Regrettably, according to statements from her family, she failed to appear at the event. Gwendolyn Utley, Watts’ cousin, disclosed that she had observed Allisha’s vehicle parked at Dunmore’s residence just a few hours after the 39-year-old departed for the show.

In a distressing turn of events, Dunmore was discovered two days later in an unresponsive state within Watts’ Mercedes-Benz SUV outside a Department of Motor Vehicles office in Anson County. Subsequently, Watts was reported missing the following day.

By July 20, investigators had located a shell casing near Dunmore’s residence, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police identified it as originating from a 9mm handgun.

On July 26, law enforcement officials returned to Dunmore’s residence and seized various items, including clothing, photographs, a camera, a laptop, and cellphones, as part of their inquiry into Watts’ disappearance.

A search warrant for these items underscored that Dunmore had attempted to end his life before being discovered inside Watts’ vehicle, prompting authorities to label him as a person of interest.

Despite extensive efforts by law enforcement and volunteers, who dedicated weeks to searching for the missing woman, no substantial leads or clues were uncovered.
